Based on the BBC Television Drama series 'Seaview'. If children have seen the series, they might be attracted to read this unremarkable tale about life in a Blackpoll 'boarding house'. Otherwise I can't see many readers being tempted far past the first few pages. There are occasional amusing incidents and the odd isolated scrap of humorous dialogue, but these are as severely rationed as the early post war years, to which the characters and the storyline seem to belong. In fact, the book is about as pacey as a worn-out donkey trudging the Golden Mile and shows about the same amount of zest for life.
