Irreverent, satirical and finely-tuned, even the title, Muddle Earth Too, signposts itself as a tongue-in-cheek play upon conventions. There is a delightful richness to this new farce which sees hapless anti-hero Joe Jefferson return to Muddle Earth to once more do battle with the forces of evil.

Fans of the first book, Muddle Earth, will delight in the return of many favourite characters in which Joe, accompanied by elder sibling Ella must endeavour to retrieve the stolen Goblet of Porridge. So begins a twisting and turning quest that encompasses more literary and filmic allusions than can easily be counted, that revels in wickedly pointed parodies and that will have readers struggling to maintain composure whilst reading!

Comedy is a delicate balance, but it is perfectly timed in Muddle Earth Too. The prose sparkles and shines and the illustrations conjure up some of the most bizarre and imaginative creatures in children's literature. A positive boon, a story this sharp should carry a health warning!
